The proposal to this effect was approved in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday. After the meeting, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference here that the government’s intention is to increase the production of IT hardware domestically in the country and encourage its exports. He said that the government will give an incentive of Rs 7350 crore to the concerned industries in the next four years. This is expected to lead to huge investment in this sector and create huge employment opportunities. The base year for the scheme will be 2019-20.
