24 February (talk) Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Sampla took over as the chairman of the National Scheduled Castes Commission on Wednesday.
Mr. Sampla is an effective leader of the Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party and has been the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Central Government. On February 17, the government issued a notification appointing Mr. Sampla as the Chairman of the Commission. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishnapal Gurjar and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
