In Britain, the media watchdog has fined Khalistan TV channel Khalsa TV Limited (KTV) a fine of 50,000 pounds. The channel has been found guilty of airing a music video supporting violence and showing terrorist references.
According to reports, the British media regulator – Office of Communications (Ofcom) on Friday issued the order against the pro-Khalistani channel, which is based on the result of the investigation which started in 2019.
In its order, the British media regulator has directed KTV to broadcast Ofcom’s statement regarding its investigation and warned that it should not broadcast the music video or discussion program found in violation of its rules.
Ofcom said in its order, “Ofcom has imposed a financial penalty of £ 20000 and £ 30000 on KTV Khalsa Television Ltd. for failing to comply with our broadcasting rules. A fine of £ 20000 relates to the music video. The fine of £ 30,000 is related to a discussion program. “
Ofcom reported, the video and the show advocated violent action against India and glorified the violent actions that fueled Sikh separatist movements. He encouraged violence against those who criticize Sikhism and legitimized a terrorist group. The music video also included photographs of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
In the video, Indira Gandhi’s picture shows blood falling from her mouth. In this picture, the caption wrote, “Bad lady you drank the blood of innocents.” The video featured the song, “Warriors will destroy your empire.” It showed the Red Fort burning.
The KTV television channel is broadcast extensively by the Sikh community in the United Kingdom under license from Khalsa Television Limited.
Ofcom launched an investigation after receiving complaints against KTV. Which had a sense of encouragement or incitement of crime and violence through his music video and discussion program.
The music video ‘Bagga and Shera’ song was broadcast by Khalsa TV in July 2018. The regulator said that among the persons referenced in the video are Bagga and Shera, Khalistani terrorists Jagtar Singh Johal and former KLF leaders.
In the video, two characters are preparing to carry out the murders in Britain with images of real people who have been convicted or charged with murder for political reasons.
The NIA had earlier blamed several KLF-linked individuals, including Sikh activists Ramandeep Singh Bagga and Hardeep Singh Shera, for their attempts to carry out targeted killings in India.
Ofcom, after its investigation, found that the music video had indirectly prompted Sikhs living in Britain to be accused of violence, even inciting murder.
At the same time, a discussion program, which aired on March 30, 2019, was titled Panthak Issues, in which Ofcom found that it too was not openly, but provoked.
The pro-Khalistan network, on March 30, 2019, aired a live show – a discussion program called ‘Panthak Masle’. In fact, the event offered many guests a platform to promote objectionable views, which did not openly, but indirectly, incite people to violence.
Baldev Singh, one of the panelists during the show, while referring to Babbar Khalsa said, “We have no argument with anyone … We eat and drink with Babbar Khalsa, we all have good relations with them all. . “
It is notable that Babbar Khalsa is a terrorist organization that intends to create an independent Sikh state in India through violent means. Due to which there were many terrorist attacks in the country and many civilians lost their lives.
