Big shock to Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi resigned from Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Considered a close associate of Mamata Banerjee, Trivedi served as the railway minister in the UPA II government. Trivedi surprised the Upper House as soon as he announced his resignation when he rose to speak on the Union Budget. “There comes a time in every man’s life when he hears his conscience. We enter politics for the country. Two days ago, we saw PM and Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad exchanging emotional greetings. It was all about his love for the country, ”Trivedi said. “I stand at that stage of my life where I have to decide what is important to me – my country, party or myself?” He said in Rajya Sabha. “It is better to resign than to remain silent. I (in the party) feel suffocated and thus resign from the Rajya Sabha, ”he said while speaking in the Upper House.
