There is a lot of enthusiasm among teenagers regarding corona vaccination. On January 3, the first day of vaccination, more than 41 lakh adolescents were vaccinated. Vaccination for adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years has started from January 3 across the country. Children born in 2004 or earlier can get all vaccines, including Covishield, but only Covaccine will be given to teens aged 15 to 17 born from 2005 to 2007.
More than eight lakh adolescents have registered themselves on the Covin portal for vaccination. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on 25 December, had said that the Kovid vaccination for adolescents of 15 to 18 years would start from January 3.
Prime Minister Modi has congratulated 15-18 year olds on getting vaccinated. The Prime Minister also congratulated their parents. In his tweet message, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘Today we have taken an important step to protect our teenagers against Kovid-19. I congratulate all my teenage friends in the age group of 15 to 18 who got vaccinated. I also congratulate his parents. I also urge other teenagers to get vaccinated in the coming days!’
The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, 2021 and vaccination of all eligible population above the age of 18 years started from May 1, 2021. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination has started from January 3, 2022 for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years.
