23 February (Language) Adani Enterprises said on Tuesday that it has entered into a joint venture with US-based company EdgeConnex to develop and operate data centers across the country.
In a communication to stock exchanges, Adani Enterprises said the deal was signed between its wholly owned subsidiary DC Development Chennai and Edgeconnex Europe, a subsidiary of Edgeconnex Europe.
The joint venture aims to develop a GW data center capacity over the next decade. The joint venture Adanikonex JV will focus on building a network of hyperscale data centers in India. It will be launched from markets in Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
Both companies said that development and construction work has started at these places. However, the companies did not provide information on the investment figures.
Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, said that India currently has the world’s largest data subscribing population. So, cloud, content, network, Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers are basic needs in the country to meet the needs of enterprises.
