(Photo expressed by Nirmal Harindran) Polling for the general elections in six municipal corporations of the state – Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar – saw a fast pace and low turnout on Sunday. According to the official website of the Gujarat State Election Commission (SEC), six municipal corporations reported an average of 43% turnout. State Election Commissioner Sanjay Prasad said that the polling was done peacefully without any major untoward incident. Ahmedabad recorded the lowest turnout of 39.54%, while Jamnagar recorded 52.49%. Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara and Surat, Jamnagar recorded the highest turnout, with Ahmedabad having the lowest turnout of 47.27%, 46.67%, 45.48% and 45.09%. .
