Although it seems that the market is saturated with high-end QD-OLED gaming monitors that promise the world, gamers are in a tough spot. Yes, you’ve got a great many high-end displays, but most of them lack some feature or the other that. If a monitor has a great 4K panel, it might not have a proper refresh rate. Or it may be lacking in its pixel refresh time. But most commonly though, tech companies making high refresh rate gaming monitors would often sacrifice colour accuracy and HDR performance. Not Gigabyte.
Gigabyte’s latest offering, the Aorus FO32U2P Tactical Gaming Monitor is is made for people who want top-tier visuals, and no compromises when it comes to features — whether they’re gaming or working on content that requires precise colours.
What we have here is a premium 4K QD-OLED display that’s all about pushing the visual experience to the max, while offering crazy refresh rates and response times, along with solid colour performance. But it’s not just another OLED monitor — this one has a few special tricks up its sleeve that help it stand out from the pack.
For instance, the FO32U2P is one of the few 4K OLED gaming monitors that supports a 240Hz refresh rate. Plus, it offers the option to daisy-chain multiple monitors, making it an attractive choice if you’re planning on building a more elaborate setup.
This 32-inch beast can deliver 240 frames per second at 4K, at a super-fast response time of 0.03ms GtG, which is a serious win for competitive gamers. And when you add HDR to the mix, you get all the vibrant colours and deep contrast that make the visuals really pop.
But, does the performance and quality of life features that comes with the FO32U2P, justify its price, which, even by gaming peripheral standards, is a bit high? We find out in this review
Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P Gaming Monitor Review: Design and built
The AORUS FO32U2P has an incredibly sleek design, featuring a slimline frame and a high-end metal chassis. The bottom bezel is minimal, with a centralised AORUS logo that gives it a clean, modern look. The monitor is surrounded by three slim bezels backed by a thin plastic frame, making it feel sleek without being too flashy.
Around the back, the slim design continues, with the plastic back only thickening around the centre where the hotter components are housed. The stand is impressively sturdy, made from metal with two angular feet that give it a solid, no-wobble base. It’s not just for show—once screwed in tightly, it really keeps the monitor stable. Plus, the FO32U2P supports 100mm VESA mounting, so if you want to free up some desk space, you can easily mount it on an arm or wall.
From the sides and back, you can see the classic OLED “panel-on-bulge” style. The panel itself is just 4 millimetres thick, with the bulge extending to 2.2 inches deep, which is still thinner than most 32-inch monitors. On the back, there’s an LED strip that adds a futuristic touch, with another AORUS logo at its centre. The back also features sculpted lines and textures that blend a sleek, modern look with a gaming aesthetic, though it could easily fit into an office setting as well.
Speaking of that LED strip, it’s placed across the top of the rear bulge and offers three different lighting effects. If it feels too distracting, you can always switch it off. The RGB lighting isn’t too in-your-face, mostly because the monitor is so large that it doesn’t draw a lot of attention unless you’re in a dimly lit room. And while the bezels are more medium-sized rather than ultra-thin, the overall design is slick and stylish.
This monitor is equipped with a joystick and two buttons to manage the on-screen display and to power the monitor on and off. The controls are smooth, responsive, and feel great to use, making it easy to navigate through settings or quickly turn the display on or off without any fuss.
The FO32U2P also comes with two built-in 5W speakers. While they can get fairly loud, they don’t deliver much in terms of deep, bass-heavy sound. However, they’re still a convenient feature for casual video watching or when you don’t want to bother with external speakers.
In terms of adjustability, the FO32U2P has 20 degrees of tilt and swivel, plus a full 90-degree pivot, so you can flip the screen to a vertical position if needed, which is great for things like content creation or managing files. There’s also 130mm of height adjustment, making it easy to position the monitor just right in your current setup.
Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P Gaming Monitor Review: Inputs, Ports
The FO32U2P comes well-equipped with plenty of ports to handle pretty much any device you want to connect. For your main inputs, you’ll find two HDMI 2.1 ports, one full-sized DisplayPort 2.1, and a Mini DisplayPort 2.1. This monitor supports up to 80Gbps of bandwidth through both DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort inputs, which is great for handling high-performance tasks. However, its daisy-chaining port is limited to DisplayPort 1.4 bandwidth, so keep that in mind for multi-monitor setups.
On top of that, the monitor also offers one DisplayPort 1.4 out, a USB Type-C port that delivers up to 65W of power, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Type-B port, and two 3.5mm jacks — one for mic input and the other for audio output.
The only real gripe here is the positioning of the USB ports. If you plan on mounting the monitor to a wall with a VESA mount, you might find it a bit tricky to access some of these ports. A couple of the USB ports would’ve been better placed for easier reach, especially for those who regularly plug in and out different devices.
Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P Gaming Monitor Review: Performance & Features
The Aorus FO32U2P uses a 32-inch 4K OLED panel from Samsung, which has a resolution of 3840 x 2160, with a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz, and a pixel response time of 0.03ms GTG. Although it lacks a Dolby Vision or IMAX certification, it does come with a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400. In SDR, it reaches a peak brightness of 250 nits, whereas in HDR, it is capable of pushing its brightness to about 1000 nits at certain parts.
Colours and contrast wise, the Aorus FO32U2P delivers vibrant colours, as you’d expect from a QD-OLED display, with smooth transitions whether you’re working with monochromatic tones or rich, colourful content—especially when HDR is switched on in Windows. The contrast is top-notch, making both bright and dark areas pop with detail.
While its 250-nit brightness in SDR mode might seem low, it remains consistent and works perfectly for everyday tasks and gaming. When it comes to HDR, brightness can shoot up to 1000 nits in small areas, making highlights really stand out, while features like Aorus’ Black Equalizer 2.0 help bring out details in shadowy areas, so you won’t have enemies sneaking up on you in darker scenes.
The 240Hz refresh rate, combined with an ultra-fast 0.03ms pixel response time, offers a smooth, fluid experience, although only the pickiest of e-sports professionals might notice a slight blur.
One thing to note with this third-generation Samsung QD-OLED panel is that it doesn’t quite achieve true black. The anti-reflective coating does a fantastic job of reducing reflections, even in dark scenes, but some multimedia purists might be slightly bothered by the slightly less-than-perfect blacks.
Another issue that plagued early QD-OLED displays, spidery text, has been largely resolved. The FO32U2P doesn’t suffer from those problems, and overall, it makes any LCD screen feel a bit outdated when it comes to contrast, viewing angles, and pixel response. This 4K OLED panel truly looks stunning.
When it comes to image modes and calibrating the monitor, out of the box, the FO32U2P comes set to Eco mode, which offers good colour accuracy but limits brightness to around 150 nits.
To unlock the full brightness potential, you’ll want to switch to either Standard or Custom modes, with Custom allowing you to tweak settings like gamma, colour temperature, and more.
The HDR mode offers five new presets, with the default HDR setting being the best choice. Unlike most HDR monitors, this one actually allows some degree of control over luminance and colour, letting you fine-tune the picture to suit your preferences.
The Gaming menu includes an Adaptive-Sync toggle, black equalizer for shadow detail enhancement, super-resolution edge enhancement, and aspect ratio options, while the real fun begins in the Picture menu, where there are 10 image modes to choose from. Eco is the default, but switching to Standard or Custom is recommended to access the full luminance range.
Gigabyte says the monitor also covers 99 per cent of DCI-P3 colour space, which is a treat for content creators, though there’s an sRGB mode for those who prefer a smaller gamut.
Users also get a nifty KVM feature which allows you to control multiple systems with one set of peripherals. The Aorius FO32U2P also offers extensive PIP (picture-in-picture) and PBP (picture-by-picture) options, letting you view two video sources at once.
The “tactical” switch next to the joystick can be programmed for different functions, such as resizing the screen to toggling crosshairs, or quickly jumping between two presets of display settings.
Gigabyte is also taking OLED care is taken seriously with this monitor, and is offering several features to prevent burn-in. For example, a pixel cleaning procedure runs every four hours to ensure equal pixel usage, which is best to do when you’re not using the monitor. Plus, the APL Stabilize option controls brightness to keep the image stable, with three levels of intensity to choose from—using the Low setting ensures brightness remains constant during gameplay.
Coming to the OSD menu, it can be accessed with a joystick. Users also get two additional buttons, one for the tactical switch, and one for the KVM.
Furthermore, we get a Game Assist menu, which offers a range of features to help during gameplay, including a frame rate counter, aiming points, sniper mode magnifications, and more. You can also monitor CPU and GPU stats in real-time using the Dashboard feature, which displays the info in a corner of your screen.
The built-in twin 5W speakers get quite loud and offer a decent amount of punch, though they lack deep bass, and the sound quality can suffer at higher volumes. Still, they’re handy for when you just need quick audio without bothering with headphones.
The monitor also supports daisy-chaining through DisplayPort 1.4, meaning you won’t need to run multiple cables to your PC for a multi-monitor setup.
Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P Gaming Monitor Review: Verdict
The Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P is a truly impressive piece of tech. When it comes to HDR gaming, this monitor delivers an experience that feels next-level. The lighting control and contrast are exceptional, making games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider look great. Similarly, Cyberpunk looks stunning with HDR and ray-tracing turned on. Even fast-paced games like Valorant are elevated by the 240Hz refresh rate and lightning-fast pixel response.
However, to truly make the most of this monitor — especially with its higher refresh rate — you’ll need a pretty powerful GPU, particularly as you venture out towards more demanding titles.
That said, the Aorus FO32U2P stands out as one of the best QD-OLED monitors on the market right now. The image quality is virtually unrivalled, with stunning colour accuracy, deep blacks, and bright whites.
The responsiveness is top-notch, and the visual clarity will leave you amazed. Very few displays we’ve reviewed can come close to the fidelity this monitor offers. Plus, it’s versatile enough for both gamers and professionals, covering a wide range of colour gamuts, which makes it great for both HDR content and colour-critical work.
The customisation options in the built-in OSD are extensive, and the OLED care features are a nice bonus, helping to maintain the panel’s longevity and prevent issues like burn-in.
Our only minor critique is the slightly warm tone that it comes in by default. While it’s not too noticeable when gaming, you may pick up on it more in everyday desktop use. It’s a small quirk, but it’s just enough to stop this monitor from claiming the absolute top spot in the 4K OLED market. Nonetheless, the Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P is still an outstanding choice for anyone who wants a premium QD-OLED experience.
