Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan chaired a high-level meeting with state health secretaries, municipal commissioners and district collectors of 46 districts, which is the most affected in terms of rising cases and rising mortality rates. At the meeting, the Centre said that 90 per cent of kovid-19 deaths fall under the category of people in the age group of 45 years. Maharashtra has 25 accounts the most affected for 59.8 per cent of the total cases recorded in the country in the last one week. At the meeting, the Centre referred to a multi-layered strategy – on effective prevention and contact tracing for at least 14 consecutive days, for 46 districts, with 71 per cent of cases and 69 per cent deaths simultaneously occurred this month. It is also serious at the alarming rate of deaths in Punjab and Maharashtra, the sources said. Top official sources present at the meeting told The Indian Express that detailed discussions were held with the district magistrates of Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Yavatmal in particular.
