Modi government’s three schemes – APY, PMSBY and PPJJY complete 7 years

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has changed the picture of the country following the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas. His public welfare schemes changed the picture of the life of the poor and common people of the country. The Modi government’s Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have completed 7 years, providing the facility of public security to the last person of the society.

Prime Minister Modi had launched all these three schemes in Kolkata on 9 May 2015. Prime Minister Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) to ensure financial security to the unorganized sector people of the country as well as Atal Pension Yojana (APY) to meet old age needs. Started it. PMJJBY and PMSBY provide people with low cost life and accident insurance cover, while APY provides an opportunity to get regular pension in old age.

These three Jan Suraksha schemes have brought insurance and pension within the reach of the common man. Due to these low-cost insurance schemes, the financial security which was earlier available only to a select few, is now reaching the last person of the society. To benefit the poor and downtrodden as well as the common farmers, the Modi government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana has launched. Even the poorest of the poor can now get life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh under PMJJBY for less than Re 1 per day. In this, you get a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh on premium payment of Rs 330 per annum.

PMJJBY is a one year life insurance plan, which provides coverage for death due to any reason. Persons in the age group of 18 to 50 years can register under this scheme from any bank or post office. Those joining the plan before the age of 50 years can get life risk coverage till the age of 55 years on payment of premium.
Under PMJJBY, 12.76 crore persons have so far registered for life insurance and the families of 5,76,121 persons have received total claims worth Rs 11,522 crore under the scheme. The scheme has proved to be extremely useful for low-income families during the pandemic, as nearly 50 per cent of the total claims paid in FY21 were related to corona deaths. In this, accident insurance can be done by paying a very small amount. So far 28.37 crore people have registered for accident cover through PMSBY and an amount of Rs 1,930 crore has been paid for 97,227 claims.
