Modi government’s surgical strike on fake news and propaganda, 16 youtube channels including 6 Pakistani channels banned

There are many forces active in the country and outside the country to malign the image of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These forces keep trying to spoil the atmosphere in the country through fake news and propaganda. The Modi government has done a surgical strike on such forces. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 16 YouTube news channels for spreading propaganda related to India’s national security, foreign relations and public order. These include 6 Pakistani channels.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the viewership of the 16 banned YouTube channels was more than 68 crores. These YouTube channels were spreading false, unverified information to create panic, incite communal hatred and disturb public order in India. A community is shown as terrorist in these YouTube news channels. Along with this, the content dividing the unity of the country was shown. Fake content was also present on these channels regarding Corona, while wrong information was given on many issues like Russia-Ukraine war.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting says that if such acts are seen in future also or if any evidence of conspiracy against India is found, then action will be taken to block such social media platforms. The government has warned that no compromise can be made regarding the security of the country. Further tough decisions will be taken on social media channels spreading rumors and lies. It is worth noting that in February last year, the IT Rules, 2021 were notified.
