TMC’s hooliganism amid Asansol by-elections

While elections are being held in West Bengal on the one hand, violence is taking place on the other. By-elections are being held for the Lok Sabha seat in Asansol, West Bengal today i.e. on April 12. During this, reports of violence are coming from there. In this violence, lathis were used fiercely in which many people were also injured. BJP party candidate Agnimitra Paul accused the TMC that “our convoy was attacked, stones were pelted. The police is not doing anything.” Paul further said that “TMC people also beat up our security personnel with bamboo sticks. No matter how much Mamata Banerjee tries, the BJP is sure to win here.” Let us inform that BJP’s candidate Agnimitra Paul is contesting from this seat, while Shatrughan Sinha is standing in this election from TMC’s side. According to the information received, this violence took place due to tension during the polling in booth number 175 and 176 of Baraboni of Asansol. BJP leader Agnimitra Paul was asked to leave the booth. Some people gathered there had questioned the presence of a local BJP leader Arijit Roy who had accompanied him at that place. “An attempt was made to stop our convoy,” he said. A total of 133 companies of central security forces have been deployed for the purpose of conducting fair voting in all the four assembly seats, including the Asansol Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal. The Election Commission has declared a total of 680 polling stations in Asansol out of 2012 and all 300 polling stations in Ballygunge as sensitive locations. In this case, Babul Supriyo also accused the Central Government and said that “The attitude of the Central Force is not right, I was not allowed to enter the booth of South Port School. However, earlier some people were allowed inside the booth after depositing the mobile outside, which was closed when there was a lot of opposition.
