The Center on Friday sought the services of West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay and asked the state government to immediately relieve the officer with instructions to report in Delhi on Monday. Bandyopadhyay, a 1987 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, was scheduled to retire on 31 May after completing his first 60 years of age. However, he was given a three-month extension.
