23 February (talk) Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the award will be started in the name of noted filmmaker Satyajit Ray, similar to the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Mr. Javadekar said this on behalf of the National Film Development Corporation (NDFC) during a discussion with famous film personalities at a function held here on Monday evening. He said that in view of Mr. Ray’s birth centenary, his major films will be sent for screening at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year.
