In memory of Indian soldiers. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the National War Memorial on February 25, 2019, to pay tribute to all the soldiers who died for the country. The names of 25,942 soldiers have been inscribed here. After the inauguration of the National War Memorial, all military ceremonial events were shifted from the India Gate Memorial here. The National War Memorial is the only memorial in the country, where the names of the martyred soldiers of the three forces are inscribed.

The National War Memorial has four cycles. The innermost Amar Chakra has a 15.5 m high memorial pillar in which the Amar Jyoti is burning. This Jyoti symbolizes the immortality of the soul of the martyred soldiers. This flame reminds the world that India can never erase the sacrifice of its soldiers from its memory. The names of martyrs are not on Amar Jawan Jyoti. Whereas the names of all the martyrs till now are inscribed on the National War Memorial. These include the names of soldiers martyred in the 1971 war.

In this way the flame of the National War Memorial pays tribute to all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Whereas India Gate was built by the British in 1931 before independence. Here the names of soldiers who were martyred in the First World War and the Afghan Wars are inscribed in the British Army. The National War Memorial complex, spread over 40 acres near India Gate, is dedicated to the soldiers martyred during the 1962 Indo-China war as well as Indo-Pak wars in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999 Kargil.

Along with this, the names of the soldiers who were martyred during the operations of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka and during the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission are also mentioned in it. You will be surprised to know that till the year 1971, no Amar Jawan Jyoti was established in the country and till 2019 no National War Memorial was established. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the National War Memorial in 2019, paying true tribute to the martyred soldiers of the country after coming to power.
