Mamata Banerjee, all refused to join BJP on TMC MLA Sonali Guha’s ticket

TMC MLA Sonali Guha, who was denied ticket by her party on Saturday, is all set to join the BJP. BJP sources said Guha has held talks with BJP leader Mukul Roy and will formally join the BJP during a rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata which will include Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

 Guha, a four-time MLA from Satgachia in South 24 Parganas, is once a member of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s innermost circle. TMC has announced the candidature of Mohan Chandra Naskar from that seat. Soon after Guha was denied a ticket on Saturday, he was broken into tears and expressed disappointment at being dropped from the list of candidates. He said, “I only wish Mamata a good gesture.

” Announcing the list of candidates on Friday, referring to the boycott of Guha, Banerjee had said, “We cannot give a ticket to Sonali because she is not well.” He has high sugar. “Guha was among at least 28 sitting MLAs who have been denied tickets this time by the TMC, trying to project a new face with the Mamata Banerjee-led party. 

Other MLAs removed include Jatt Lahiri, Rabindranath Bhattacharya and Rafikur Rahman. The dissatisfaction among the MLAs denied the ticket by TMC Guha was not the only one among those dropped to express their displeasure against the party. TMC’s Shibpur MLA Jattu Lahiri has been ignored this time, the party has fielded cricketer Manoj Tiwari from the area.

 Unhappy with the move, Lahiri told reporters that he was ignored by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee despite TMC being a “loyal soldier”. He said, “More than no nomination, I am sad that no outsider has any relationship with the voters, who got nomination only a few days after joining the party. It seems that we no longer need TMC.

 I am leaving the organization, ”he said. TMC has nominated former cricketer Manoj Tiwari from Howrah’s Shibpur seat. Veteran politician Lahiri also indicated that he could join the BJP. However, BJP sources said that there is no information about Lahiri joining the party. On Friday, his followers protested in various parts of the state for refusing to give tickets to their MLAs. 

Over the course of several years, in Nunuhat, many party workers, who had blocked the streets by burning wooden chairs and car tires in front of TMC’s office. Similar scenes occurred in Amdanga of North 24 Parganas, 35 km from Kolkata, Supporters of two-time MLA Rafikur Rahman shut down NH-34 after Jahan Rahman was denied the ticket.

 Traffic movement was completely halted for more than two hours and even when the central security forces intervened, a group of men bearing TMC flags shouted slogans in support of Rahman

. There were also reports of party workers unhappy with TMC’s decision to field Om Prakash Mishra, a professor of international relations at Jadavpur University, who joined TMC in 2019 after a long stint with the Congress. 

Other prominent TMC leaders who were ignored include Rabindranath Bhattacharya, Moinuddin Shams and Dipendu Biswas. With reference to TMC’s decision to field Beecharam Manna and his wife Korbi Manna from Singur in Haripal, Bhattacharya said, “People from the same family were nominated in both constituencies. You can understand how the party is doing. “Announcing the list of candidates at his Kalighat residence on Friday, Banerjee said that in view of the Kovid-19 crisis, this time tickets have not been given to those who are above 60 years of age. .
